About Picciolo Vineyards Apartments

On the slope of the volcano 700 meters above sea level, nestled among ancient Etna DOC vineyards, stands Il Casale 120: a 19th-century wine villa, now transformed into a cozy and refined residence. Once the summer residence of a noble Catania family, today it is the beating heart of a small corner of paradise, run with passion by Margriet (Dutch) and her husband (Sicilian DOC).

The estate houses two independent apartments, furnished with contemporary taste but with great respect for the history and volcanic surroundings. The centuries-old vines, cultivated on ancient lava stone terraces, tell of the area’s long winemaking tradition. And the landscape, always different, gives emotions in every season: flowers and deep green in spring, ripe bunches of grapes in summer, clear skies and winter silence.

From the estate it is easy to set off to explore Mount Etna: excursions to the summit craters, scenic tours with the Circumetnea Railway, a day at the Alcantara Gorges or on the beaches of the Ionian Sea. And for those who want to explore even more, Taormina, Syracuse, Noto and even the Aeolian Islands are perfect for a day trip.

Right next to the villa is a golf course: also an ideal location for golf lovers who want to combine relaxation, nature and sports at the foot of Mount Etna.

Apartment ‘Piano Nobile’

Located on the second floor, this apartment enjoys unique views of vineyards, Etna and the Nebrodi mountains. It is accessed via a traditional and wide typical Sicilian outdoor staircase that opens onto a large sunny terrace. With its high loft and windows, the apartment is reminiscent of the noble family that lived there until recently.

With an interior area of 50 m² and a private terrace of 24 m², the apartment offers plenty of space to relax in tranquility. There is also a large flower garden with shaded areas, vegetable garden, and play area with table tennis, bocce ball, and other outdoor amusements. The apartment has a fully equipped kitchen, a cozy living room and a bathroom on the ground floor. The sleeping area is located on the open loft, with a high double bed.

Outside, guests can relax among sunny corners and shady areas, with a dining table, deck chairs, outdoor games, a large flower garden, and access to the vegetable garden. Also included is private parking. A 50 m² space perfect for a relaxing vacation at the foot of Mount Etna.
