Piano Provenzana with snow
Snow in winter completely changes the lava scenery on Mount Etna. The ski area of Piano Provenzana is the flagship among the three ski resorts of Sicily.
The Etna-north area offers the possibility to ski starting from an altitude of 1800 meters and arriving at an altitude of 2400 meters with 3 ski lifts and a chairlift with 4 red and 2 blue ski slopes. You can also practice ski mountaineering, a discipline that makes you feel the adrenaline of skiing on an active volcano like Mount Etna.
Etna north destination for your skiing vacations
The ski facilities allow fans of this sport to gather and experience this unique landscape between snow, fire and sea that only Etna North can give. You can rent the equipment for skiing or snowboarding directly at Piano Provenzana in one of the souvenir stores.
Even for beginners there is the possibility to practice this sport on the snow. They can book a ski or snowboard lesson with federal instructors.
A few hundred meters from Piano Provenzana you arrive in the area of Monte Conca. Here you find other souvenir stores, a restaurant and a chalet for holiday rental. Also you find here an approved cross-country skiing track (fisi).
Cross country skiing
In the area of Piano Provenzana it is possible to practice cross-country skiing on a perfectly beaten track “Poiana” which reaches the length of 5 km.
Access to the track is from the Monte Conca area, far from the ski lifts and immersed in the woods. You will also find federal instructors who will allow you to practice this sport.
Sledging fun
Non-skiers can enjoy moments of fun by sliding on sledges or bobsleds. Rental costs € 10,00. Or you can buy a sledge for € 25,00.

Also on Mount Etna you will find a tasty and fine grappa made from the distillation of Etna’s grape pomace. In the typical refuges of Mount Etna or in the bars in the historical center of Linguaglossa you should make a stop to warm up your body and try the real Etna Grappa.
