The quad tour starts from Alcantara and takes about 5 hours. During the tour, you ride on both asphalt and dirt roads and nature trails. To then arrive at an altitude of 1850 meters at Piano Provenzana - Etna Nord.

From the starting point near the Alcantara Gorges, we head towards Castiglione di Sicilia. Then from there we continue in the direction of Linguaglossa, crossing the bike path from where you can admire Etna's farthest crater; the Vulcanetto di Moio Alcantara.

We then climb and pass by numerous lava flows, cross the Ragabo pine forest and visit the Corruccio Cave. Before we arrive at Piano Provenzana, at an altitude of 1850 meters to admire the lava from the last eruption in 2002. After a stop at Piano Provenzana we descend to the starting point.

If you have never ridden an ATV (quad), it is not a problem. Before departure, we will explain how the quad bike works. Important is that you have a driver's license and some sense of adventure.

Schedule and availability

The Etna quad tour from Alcantara is available daily by reservation, even in winter with snow! The excursion takes about 5 hours. During the winter period, there is only a morning departure around 09:00 am. In summer we do multiple departures, even during the day.

It is necessary to arrive 15 minutes before the start of the tour. The duration of the tour is about 5 hours in total.

Clothing
It is recommended to wear comfortable clothes. It is necessary to wear closed shoes, such as sports shoes. You are not allowed to ride the quad bike with flip-flops. Always bring a jacket with you, because it may get colder in the forest and on Mount Etna! Also we recommend that you bring goggles (sunglasses) for driving. 

Food and drinks
No food or drinks are included. So bring a bottle of water if you want to have a drink during or after the tour. Or you can buy something in one of the bars in Piano Provenzana.

Guides and languages

The tour is led by experienced guides. They speak Italian and English and during the tour they will tell you about the Etna volcano, its eruptions and the surrounding area.

Quads

The tour is conducted with Polaris and/or 4×4 CF quads. These are automatic quads. The organization also provide a helmet and hairnet. Tours are conducted with respect for nature and with maximum safety. Also consider that you are driving in a Nature Park.
