The Taormina dolphin sunset boat ride
The journey starts from the port of Giardini Naxos, where you’ll begin navigating along the breathtaking coastline towards Isola Bella. Along the way, there will be a refreshing swimming and snorkeling stop in a calm bay (don’t forget to bring your own snorkeling equipment!).
As part of the tour, you’ll explore some of the area’s most fascinating sea caves. When conditions allow, the captain will carefully navigate the boat into these caves for a truly immersive experience. Please note: entering the caves depends on the sea and current conditions, and can never be fully guaranteed.
Caves you may visit include:
- Grotta del Giorno
- Grotta d’Amore (Lover’s Cave)
- Grotta Azzurra (Blue Grotto)
You’ll also pass other iconic locations such as:
- Capo Taormina
- The Bay of Mazzarò
- The enchanting Isola Bella
- The striking coastline of Giardini Naxos
- And unique rock formations covered in prickly pear cacti
After the cave visits, the boat will stop in the bay of Isola Bella, where you’ll enjoy a light Sicilian apericena – a delicious tasting of local snacks and a refreshing drink, served on board while you take in the stunning surroundings.
Then, it’s time to venture into open water for the highlight of the tour: dolphin spotting! While we can’t guarantee sightings, dolphins are regularly seen swimming and jumping near the boat – we’ve had a success rate of around 85% over the past three years. And who knows… maybe you’ll even spot a whale, as we did once!
As the sun begins to set, casting golden light across the water, the boat gently makes its way back to Giardini Naxos harbor. The entire experience lasts approximately 3 hours, offering unforgettable views, a touch of adventure, and moments of pure magic.
Please note:
The exact route may be adjusted on the day based on weather conditions, sea currents, or the appearance of dolphins early in the trip. The captain always aims to provide the best and safest experience possible.
