Snorkeling Taormina and Isola Bella

Taormina and Isola Bella are spectacular to visit, but have you ever seen their underwater world? During the Snorkeling Taormina and Isola Bella excursion, you will board an inflatable boat (gommone) to go offshore and discover the hidden beauty beneath the surface.

The experience begins at the meeting point at Isola Bella, where you’ll meet your guide and receive your snorkeling gear and a short briefing. After that, it’s time to head out on the boat and explore the stunning coastline from a whole new perspective.

Together with your local guide, you will visit up to three different snorkeling spots:

• The crystal-clear waters of Isola Bella
• The area near the enchanting Grotta Azzurra
• The rocky seabed next to Capo Taormina

At each stop, you’ll have time to dive in and explore the marine life and unique underwater rock formations.

In case of stronger currents or rougher sea conditions, the captain may decide to reduce the tour to two snorkeling locations. Safety always comes first — and you’ll get more time to enjoy each spot.

Details Snorkeling Taormina and Isola Bella excursion

The excursion starts right from the beach of Isola Bella. At the time of booking you will receive the exact location, so you will know exactly where to show up. To get to Isola Bella beach you have to walk down the steps. You have to calculate about a 15-minute walk to get to the starting point. If you are a true beginner, you can also choose to snorkel off Isola Bella on your own. But if you want to discover the real underwater world, climb aboard the inflatable boat!

There are 2 inflatable boats available, each of which can accommodate up to 10 people. The excursion starts at 2 times of the day:

• 11 am
• 3 pm

The excursion takes about 1.5 hours in total. You should always arrive at least 15-20 minutes before the tour starts. On Sundays the company is closed!

Accompanied by a guide, you will navigate to 3 different areas where you can snorkel:

• Isola Bella area
• Nearby Grotta Azzurra
• Next to Capo Taormina

Many archaeological remains, such as bronze vessels and ceramic objects, have been found in these areas in the past.

Parking

Please note that parking near Isola Bella is difficult during Summer. You can reserve a paid parking space through the organization at the Mazzaro Cable Car, about 500 meters walk from the stairway entrance. Please let us know when you make your reservation! Otherwise, we recommend that you come early in the morning to already enjoy your day at Isola Bella.

Availability Snorkeling Taormina and Isola Bella
Taormina and Isola Bella snorkeling is available daily with good weather and by reservation. When the sea is too rough, snorkeling is not possible.

• Departure time: 11.00 am or 3.00 pm
• Meeting time: 15-20 minutes before the tour starts
• Total duration: 1,5 hour

Price and availability

The price includes equipment use, transportation by inflatable boat, guide, a drink and fresh fruit during the excursion.

• Adults: € 40,00 p.p.
• Children up to the age of 12: € 35,00 p.p.
• Family price 1 adult + 1 child: € 70,00

You can pay for the excursion on the day of the excursion directly to the organization. So you do not have to pay anything in advance! Reservations are based on trust, and it is assumed that when you book you will do everything you can to come. That is why we give you the option to pay on the day of the excursion itself. Very convenient!

What to bring

Before departure, you will receive a complete set of snorkeling equipment from the organization. The equipment consists of a wetsuit, fins, goggles (mask) and snorkel. Thanks to the wetsuit you can snorkel Taormina and Isola Bella as early as April until October!

All snorkeling equipment is disinfected in special containers before use.
