Please keep in mind that the weather on Mount Etna can change very quickly. Forecasts only become truly reliable about 24 hours in advance. So if you see “bad weather” predicted a week from now, there’s really no need to worry yet — conditions can easily improve.
Also, don’t forget to check the wind forecast. Sometimes the weather looks good on paper, but strong winds can make conditions unpleasant or even unsafe. In many cases, a few clouds with little wind are much better than clear skies with a lot of wind 😉
Regarding snow forecasts on Mount Etna: snow is often predicted several days ahead, but these forecasts are quite uncertain until the last moment. Temperatures, wind direction, and precipitation can all change quickly, meaning that predicted snowfall may turn into rain — or not happen at all. As with general weather conditions, snow forecasts usually become more accurate only one or two days before.
If you’re planning an excursion, it’s best to keep an eye on the weather in the days leading up to your visit and stay flexible.
